I had basically had enough of constantly being depressed, about being in fear of the future and needed to learn about how to control my depression.

From gaining various solutions for my depression I was then able to cope with whatever life would have to throw at me. I will at times have an off day where I feel quite low and this is where I use my new found knowledge.

I am a very quiet person and I like to keep myself to myself. Many people see me as a loner and I must admit that I am. I have been hurt on numerous occasions at the hands of various people; it has been to such an extent that I am now happier when I am on my own. I am not a peoples person. Work has often been a source of stress; I have had various roles, working for a mobile workforce management company, a welding equipment company and working part time at an egg donation clinic.

I also like to keep my problems to myself. This was my biggest failure, what I needed to do was to talk through my problems and fears with somebody else, a member of my family for example.

This was not easy for me to do and it took a great deal of courage to talk to anybody about the areas of my life which made me feel depressed. I did however go down this route and it did have a positive effect. To talk about my problems was like taking a weight off my shoulders.

It was my dad who I confided in. He listened and then came back with some superb advice and a couple of suggestions of what I could do.

This is my second piece of advice. Instead of wasting so much of our time stressing about various things we should be using this valuable time to think of varous solutions to whatever real problems that we have. We need to ask ourselves why we are depressed and what can help us to remedy our issues.

Beat Depression Advice

As crazy as it might sound one of the major ways that I have managed to conquer my own depression is via sleep. If I have had a restless night for whatever reason, such as my dog continually barking throughout the night or one of my children keeps waking up with nightmares, I always seem
to find that I am feeling quite low and down on the next day. It is as if my brain is unable to think in a positive way and that the lack of sleep has affected some kind of chemical balance. I then start to worry about the smallest of things and about aspects of my life that may or may not happen in the future. This then affects my work and social life as I am basically feeling drained and not up for it, some would say that I am feeling quite lethargic.

Working at the Patio doors company does cause me a great deal of stress and anxiety – even leading to depression.

What I basically attempt to do is to sleep my way out of the depression. This may not of course work for everyone but when I wake back up I always feel a whole lot better and able to think more pro-actively about things.

I have also found that exercise via a good workout also helps me to eradicate the depression.The feeling of pride and well being after completing my exercise routine is quite amazing and it certainly replaces those feelings of doom and gloom. These positive thoughts are like a reward that I have being granted for putting in the effort etc.

Finally I am a firm believer in travelling to new and interesting places with my family. These are normally for a long weekend and they enable me to focus on something away from the daily grind of normality. Just to get away from the big city where I live and to explore a new environment is always a good way for me to unwind and again helps my mind to focus on other things, such as my family and showing them a good time.
